My mail app will not notify me I have new mail unless I go into the app and refresh it myself. Shouldn't I get a notification every time a new email comes in? I made sure in my settings menu that notifications are turned on.

I actually get notifications for mail but it all happens at once when I get home from work. It is quite annoying. Is this normal? I have missed several urgent/important emails in the past couple of weeks due to this.

It’s always been that way when I had an iPhone

Go to Settings-> Passwords & Accounts and at the bottom you can specify how often new messages will be fetched.

But you also mention you get all of the notifications when you get home. It sounds like you might not be fetching email when on cellular data away from Wifi. Settings -> MAil and then make sure Cellular Data is turned on.

I would advice anyone to use another mail app besides the default one on the iphone. For example we use the outlook app at work. It's more secure and doesn't frick up constantly like the mail app does.

I deleted the "Mail" app and installed/use Yahoo instead. I get notifications and it works alot better
