Laptop recommendations

My son will be starting LSU in engineering this fall. Looking for recommendations on a laptop that can get him through 4 years. I've heard stay away from MacBooks if he is in engineering due to compatibility issues....so preferable a windows based product. TIA

Has i5 processor, Windows 10 Pro, and 250GB SSD...with all of the commonly used peripheral ports.
Strong and sturdy laptop with aluminum frame. I've purchased a few lately for our project engineers.
