Jailbreak 3rd Gen AppleTV

I have a 3rd gen AppleTV currently and am wanting a 4th gen, but only due to the addition of the App Store. Should I/can I jailbreak the one I have and pocket that $150?
Is there any other reason to upgrade? I basically just use it to catch up on episodes I miss

You can only jailbreak the Apple TV Gen 2. Now with ATV4 you should be able to side load apps on their as well. Expect some deals on Black Friday on the new ones as well.

The biggest difference I see from Apple TV 3rd gen --> 4th gen is the fact that 4th gen can use SlingTV. Honestly, that's it from how I use my AppleTV.

The 4th gen has the app store while the 3rd gen doesn't, correct?

Correct. The 4th gen has the app store like an ipad/iphone vs. the 3rd gen just has apps that can be added to the home screen via a checkbox on/off.
