Since yesterday- I’ve been unable to use the touchscreen (yes, I’ve tried all the online tricks) and it will just occasionally change the watch face w/o me doing anything-
Anyone have an experience with this? Or idea to do next?

Just had that same issue. Hold down the crown button and the button below that simultaneously until the apple logo appears.
This will reset the watch so that it functions normally.
eta: if you've tried that already to no avail, reset to factory norms and re install updates and see if that works.

Did you get apple care your watch? If so they probably will replace it for free.

I’m not sure if my wife did- she normally buys that …
I late it completely die- and did a factor reset - still no touchscreen ability
