iPhone Jailbreak Guidance

Looking to possibly update. Currently on iOS 9.0.2, iPhone 6s.
Reading through the Reddit page and it's kind of information overload.
Just looking for general guidance or to confirm what I've gathered so far.
It looks like since there's no JB for the only version of iOS still being signed (11.3.1), that I can't restore to one of the earlier ones (that does have a JB) using iTunes and would need to use another method like the SHSH blobs. There appear to be several options there.
Halp!! thanks for the halp!

I don't know about "have to" but I like to do so to get the most customization possible.
But thanks.

thought the jailbreak community fell apart with the recent OS. Admittedly, I have been out of the scene for a while since I have switched to android.
Don't know as I have also not been keeping up for a long time.

I was really big into jailbreaking, even had it on iOS 10, but the community really fell apart and I gave up on it. I still like seeing customized icons and themes, but with iOS 11, there really isn't much use for it anymore. Electra was the latest one to be released and it is only for 11.0 through 11.1.x - You can't get SHSH blobs unless you upgraded to 11.0 and saved them. So if you update your phone, you won't be able to jailbreak until a new one is released.
FYI, if you had upgraded to iOS 11.0 and saved your SHSH blobs while iOS 11.0 was still being signed, you could upgrade to the new iOS 11.3.1 and still downgrade. But since 11.0 is not being signed any longer, there is no way to save SHSH blobs from that firmware.

but with iOS 11, there really isn't much use for it anymore.
For example, I have a media download program that I use often to be able to download YouTube or porn videos or many other things. As well as other apps. Is there really no need for JB now?
Otherwise, thanks exactly the input I'm looking for.
So I can either stay where I am and jail broken or update and not.
