I just purchases an Iphone SE 2020 off of Swappa. The dealer has five stars.

The phone is a demo phone from what I can ascertain. This was not mentioned in the ad and the dealer is non-responsive.

I see a couple of YouTube videos on resetting demo phones. Have any of you had to deal with this?

The phone is nice and I will keep if able to get fully functional. Otherwise, I will be returning it.

It's likely stolen from a store in a smash and grab. The phone will never work. I would return it asap.

Even if you can get it to work(you should be able to).

The model and serial number is likely that of a demo phone so any customer service or warranty is probably gone.

"Yes, you can use a phone which has been previously used as Demo unit in an Apple Store or authorised reseller. The catch is that the iPhone must be restored to full functionality prior to using it.

Most Apple authorised resellers in my area sell demo units after they’re done showing them (usually at a sizeable discount). The demo mode software is removed, the iPhone is restored to standard factory settings and is sold with either a limited, or somtimes full warranty.

However, if the demo unit was stolen, then it will be useless."

Update: My son was able to clear the phone and reflash it. It works fine.

From reading online, many of the demos are sold in bulk at auction and the software must be reset.

FYI this is an Iphone SE 2020 in mint condition that I paid $133 for.
