Help me delete over 2500 photos from my Macbook desktop?

I wanted to delete all photos from iPhoto so I selected all and tried to drag them to the trash. Instead they ended up on my desktop. What the hell do I do now?

Nevermind. I figured it out. And it was 3642 photos, not 2500.
