Pretty sure my hdd has failed that's in my surveillance dvr. Pic below. My question is do I need that exact brand/model or will any 2TB HDD suffice?

Dvr is a Lorex if that makes any difference.

Any 2TB will work. Size really doesn’t matter so you can go bigger if you want

I would replace it with a 2 TB WD Black.

lol no
Black's are performance drives. OP needs a drive rated for continuous writes and re-writes. WD Red (NAS) or Purple (Surveillance) or the equivalent from Seagate.

Thanks for the feedback. At work we had a rash of failures with blue and replaced them with black a while back and haven't had any problems since. At the time black seemed to be the best solution.

It appears that WD has reworked their product line some since I last looked. The green has been eliminated. The purple, red and gold models look interesting. LINK
