Gopro media upload help

Just got a gopro for christmas and have only fooled around with it a small bit. Why the hell is it such a pain in the arse to do anything with it other than just film/pics? The app software is pure garbage! Takes forever to connect my gopro to app. Then i have problems figuring out how to get my media onto computer. Help a brother out. Any tips or tricks to getting my media from my gopro to my computer

Ive always just removed the SD card and put into my computer. Are you trying to copy the files a different way?

Had camera plugged usb (computer) to usb type c (camera). Computer doesnt seem to recognize camera. Some kind of a way i got pics onto the my media portion of the gopro website before and cant figure it out now
