Corsair Hydro isn’t recognized as a fan source for CPU so it boot cycles

I bought a new MOBO (Gigabyte Z370 Aorus), memory (Corsair Vengeance RGB), CPU (i7-8700 Coffee Lake) along with a Corsair 850W modular PSU and Corsair Hydro cooking system.

After some trial and error from getting into a boot cycle with new parts installed I decided to install my old parts back into the case with just the hydro and the PSU.

Still sat in a boot cycle.

So, I installed my old CPU fan onto my old processor and uninstalled the hydro. It booted right up.

This leads me to believe that the CPU isn’t recognizing that it is getting cooling to boot up so sits in a cycle.

Am I doing something wrong with the Hydro that would cause this? I did have the cord plugged into the CPU_FAN port so it should have recognized it.

you probably don't have the 4pin headers plugged into the correct board slots. check the mobo manual and see if it needs to go into PUMP instead of FAN since its an AIO water cooler.

when you had it installed did the pump kick on and start to push water through the tubes?

It never got to that point but, yes, all the lights and board started up. When I clicked the power on what would happen is that the RGB would all light up and then immediately shut down. Then a second latter it would light up and get in a boot cycle of trying to start up.

I tried a few different methods. The pump itself is a 3-pin connection on a 4-pin header (CPU_FAN) and had the regular case fans (4-pin) plugged into 4-pin header (CPU_OPT). No matter if I switched these around or tried plugging the cooler into SYS_FAN, it would boot cycle.

Did you go into the bios and disable the cpu fan monitor?

I couldn’t even get to the BIOS. It just boot cycled right when I clicked the power on.

It was plugged into the SATA, as well. It requires both.
