Question for the Apple sheep out there. Is there a way to make a shortcut via the Apple Shortcuts app so that it triggers "Intercom" via homepods/homepod minis?

Example: Using the apple watch ultra's new mapped button functionality, I'd love to push that and trigger Siri to send a message to my girls room homepod mini (usually just to yell at them to wake up and get dressed).

I know that the Google Home automations can do this relatively easy but not sure Apple has upped their game in this area, yet.

Do you:
1) want to use your watch to make announcements throughout the home?
2) have a recorded message from you Turn in and play at a specific time?

The shortcuts app is pretty easy to get your hands dirty on. I have several apple products, but I’m unfortunately not sheepish enough to own bad audio devices for the sake of it, so it is a little difficult to exactly walk you through it. There is a decently active r/shortcuts community, but last posts asking about this were about a year ago and automation of the intercom feature wasn’t allowed (yet?)

So if you want a prerecorded one, it’s easy. Set playback destination as the speakers you want, play memo, set the designation back on the phone.
Then set that to run M-F at wake up time. To get it to not run on holidays is fairly annoying but possible.

If you want to make announcements whenever, It has been done and available to steal/modify
But if you want to hear them back, you’re beyond my help as I don’t have the device or app to test for you.

Thanks, what you sent is VERY close but won’t quite transmit the recording to the Apple HomePod mini. Not sure that’s allowed, yet.

Like you said, the best current implementation is to record something and then play it back.
Thanks!
