Did LSU have something there for a minute offensively?

It seemed like they (and the game is a blur so I'm struggling to remember exactly when it was, probably sometime in the 3rd quarter) figured something out as to how to attack our coverage temporarily.

Basically it was the two deep, Dre staying in the flat with Lester covering deep. They ran the bootleg and tried to hit Beckham (who was definitely open for a second) and Lester really overran the play and if Beckham had caught it he might have scored. Then very soon after they again exploited the hole in the coverage and threw a quick fade to Beckham. Again between Dre and Lester.

I was worried that we would over compensate and Beckham (or some other receiver) would use some sort of double move to get past Lester.

Nothing ever came of it though. That was literally the only time LSU attempted to throw downfield. All in the same series. Maybe we made some adjustments?

Too long?

I was excited that we were throwing downfield and that we might be able to rally. Then we went back to running/option and the drive fizzled. We called the game for JJ's skill set (option), when we needed to win the game with Lee's skill set (passing).

These were back to back plays.

We never threw past the first down line again. Hell, we probably ran the ball more than you did from that point to the end of the game.

I'm not sure what LSU's plan was. Although its kind of difficult to call a game when your O-line is getting worked.

LSU should have thrown downfield more. Throwing east west on Bama isn't happening. Anyone still think the Bama LBs are slow BTW?

Y'all had DBs playing up to help contain. Swagpatrick was in on a few of those horizontal scree pass TFL. The whole defense was ready for the spread game and we didn't adjust. Lee might not have done much better, but he couldn't have done much worse. We needed to go vertical, but we didn't. It was terrible.

Nope, nothing. You imagined it.

LSU had nothing tonight, least of all a competent head coach.
