But black people, even the ones old enough to have lived through the original versions, get bored with yesterday's slang.
Funny thing is, the generational tension you see with white people in things like Millenials versus Boomers doesn't exist in black culture (as far as I can tell). But even the old guys wouldn't get caugt dead saying "Jive Turkey" now.
One day I am going to watch a bunch of episodes of Sanford and Son and Good Times. Channel it and let my freak flag fly.
