Paul Santenello Interviews Holocaust Survivor And Lessons Are Abundant For All Who Have Ears To Hear

Lucy Jacobs is a Holocaust survivor who was 14 years old when she was sent to Auschwitz and 18 when liberated in a hospital with typhus, and boy does she have a story to tell, but one thing really resonated that I think Americans living today should pay close attention to, besides her absolute love and appreciation for America. She does not consider the average Nazis as evil, but rather brainwashed. When asked whether she thought this was possible today, and she responded with an emphatic “absolutely”.

I think Americans think this is so far removed from them, because everyone thinks they would never do anything like what the “nazis” did because they were some magically evil people, and we are such “good people” who would never do anything of the sort, but I think that’s just plain ignorance at best and dishonesty with who they are and what human nature is at it’s worst.

I think we see it in our politics to this very day, and prominently on display in the divisional politics of pitting people against each other recently with the Covid vaccine, amongst many other things like calling people who oppose you politically as Supremacists, Hateful, and full of all kinds of evil. No longer do we just disagree and find common ground, but we carry it around with us and can’t even endure anyone who’s not in agreement with us on politics.

America, for those old enough to remember a decade or so ago at the least, did not operate this way, and what fuels this sickness is truly what is evil, and there are many who allow themselves to be brainwashed into this kind of thinking, and if you don’t think that represents a very real danger to this country, then you aren’t paying very close attention. This is not what constitutes being an America, but it is very similar to the precursors of what led to both the inhumanity of actions in both Germany and the Soviet Union.
