When you make the laws, you can declare anything legal you wish. I'd certainly argue it's immoral though.

The existence of government also allows us to identify and distinguish those murderous regimes from those governments that brought us to the most wealthy and technologically advanced point in human history.

Painting it in a light most favorable to you, the best I can do is say the existence of government is a double-edged sword.

No.

The best option is to limit their options so innocent bystanders don't pay the price for some buckaroo having destructive capabilities no human should have.

I post a link to a study that shows that governments have killed a staggering number of people in the 20th century (not including wars). The Poli Board's response: ignore and name-call. I post a link that shows what absolutely awful things that the US has done to Iraq in the past decade. The Poli Board's response? Ignore and claim that I'm an "ideological purist" and I don't look at things in a "practical" manner.

We've had this discussion before, but your use of the word 'theft' is a misnomer when you use it in this context. I mean we can go down the social contract-> I don't consent-> well how do you want to manifest your consent on a daily basis... rabbit hole if you want, but I feel like we're just spinning our wheels here.

Get back to me when the government does that.

I didn't ignore your link. I think you've ignored my counterpoint about what also happened in that time frame due to the existence of government.

I feel like you have no argument and just don't want to admit it so you sum things up by saying "we" are "spinning our wheels".

we've had this conversation more times than I care to remember.

At the foundation, you reject the social contract and I accept it. That difference is a non-starter as far as the rest of it goes.

One entity having weapons it shouldn't have isn't an argument for giving a staggering number of potentially unbalanced individuals weapons they shouldn't have.

I'm not arguing for the government to have the capacities it has. I'd love to see every government on this planet without the means to kill a single citizen of the Earth, save for strangulation. But that fantasy world does not currently exist.

So someone else got to walk on the moon and a bunch of people got to pay taxes for it and now the US government, 45 years later, can't get back to the moon. Cool.

So a buncha people I don't know died before I was born because a few other people were fricked in the head.

Cool.

Riveting rebuttal, G.

I'm done here.

Pretty much every person over 50 I know has gotten cancer.

Also, there is no way to argue how much technological advancement there would have been without the government stealing from all of us to fund its own research. I do know that most people think that there is hardly anything the government does without a bunch of waste and red tape.

If it not from an orderly, civilized society, then what is it from?

Government does not equal orderly and civilized. Wow.

People coming up with inventions and advancing society. I can't write a book about every way that an individual has helped advance our way of life.
