I don’t know if this has been brought up yet but the social planners in China that forecasted the need for ever growing cities is leading to their ghost cities. At some point in the future China will have problems where their are too many takers on the government welfare/pension system.

You can even see traces of that here in the US. As people voluntarily have less children, schools that were built 1,000 students in the 80’s now may have 600 students. So they will need less teachers so there are fewer teachers paying into the pension system. The school board is now paying for 1,000 student school while only getting enough revenue to support a 600 student school.

A town that may have had a need for 20 police officers and 20 firefighters may need half as many. Same issue as above.

A town that may have been able to have 2 grocery stores now can only support one.

But the biggest bubble in this is that tax and social security revenues start shrink, while expenditures continue to increase.

So at some point, this will all become unsustainable unless we print our way out it, or import our residents. The latter is almost true with our crazy immigration problems. My problem with immigration to solve this issue is that only money that is necessary to live is pumped back into the economy and the rest is shipped back to their country of origin. Also, the sheer number of immigrants working for cash takes hit on tax revenues.

Yeah, the gender imbalance in China is really bad.

Even worse in India ,despite no "One Child" policy. 34 million more men than women in China & 37 million more men than women in India.
