Grading standards were lowered at least 3 decades ago. Prime and choice were both higher quality.

Find a local farmer who is selling cows. I bought an 8th of a cow for about 6 bucks a lb. Steaks, roasts, hamburger, all grass fed, no chemicals. The meat is fantastic. He delivers another 8th every 4 months.
Also bought a lamb. Got it for 9 bucks a lb. About to buy a hog once i clear some freezer space.
The farmers are wising up and eliminating the middle man. If you can find a farmer and buy direct you’ll save big money and vastly increase the quality of your meat.

It’s clear at this point that it’s time to start raising our own food. I wouldn’t trust the government to not put drugs in our food.

Got two tenderloin steaks, two eye of round steaks, and a rib steak for less than $30 today. Marked down. Only way they are affordable now.

Paid $65 for a steak at Ruth's Chris the other day. While good, not up to their normal standard.
