I've been to 2 that were state of the art and very clean electronics assembly plants. One was an American company and one was French. I also toured a textile mill and it was pretty typical of what we used to have in the US.

Not many, the story I got was they would hire a guy and he would learn his job, get fairly decent at it, and the next thing they knew he wouldn't show up for work. They may work 2 weeks, 2 months, or 2 years but when they had money put back they were gone back to their shack with no interest in working any longer

$6/day, roughly 39¢/hr, which is a legal wage. (that math doesn't add up but it is what the article says)
