Took last week off to hunt down in Georgia (Harris County). Should have been solid pre-rut but weather was not doing them or me any favors.
Thurs rain/low pressure came in followed by cold front later that night. They went apeshit.
Of course Thurs aftn was my last hunt since SOMEONE had scheduled for me to be in Nashville this wknd w/o my knowledge. I love my son to death but packing up to drive 6 hrs to make his first JROTC B-day celebration during the peak of the rut in that part of GA was NOT in my plans.
She will not be making that mistake again we decided.

As a sidenote it is CLEARLY evident that whatever Marine nitwit that decided to christen the Corps on around the peak of the rut in most of the Eastern U.S.was NOT a frikin deer hunter.

Frickin jarheads anyway.......

Anyhow, back to the rut, it really did break wide open Thurs. My am hunt was cut short due to rain. Bow got absolutely soaked to the bone, as did I, so I called it quits earlier than usual (10:15)On my way back to truck swung by and picked up a game cam to move it to a hotspot on edge of swamp I found previous day. 200 yards from truck , as I was walking thru a bottom, doe comes by at 30 yds and turns parallel to me trotting. Behind her a 130-140 class 8 pt pulls up broadside at 30 yds, head behind tree oblivious to me being there. Of course I have my bow in one hand(no arrow nocked, release in pocket) and a game cam in other hand.

Had to sit there n watch them trot away. F me to tears.
Killed a mediocre 8 pt on that same trail later that afternoon, but big boy never came back out. On way out of hunting lease saw THREE seperate bucks with does, all tight up on their hootchies. Big boy was one of them.
Sat morning my best friend sat on one of my lock ons and had two hot does come by, one with THREE bucks in tow.

Of course I was in Tenn.
