The scope opinions in this thread are dead on.

My buddy is shooting this in his 300 and I have NOT BEEN IMPRESSED! Had a tip fall of an accubond while in his rifle, has had 2 rounds in one box not feed and 2 misfires (in two different rifles). Ammo shoots very well, when it shoots.

Any reason you don't like the silver tips? I have had very good results with them and they shoot VERY well in my 300 wsm. Shot some Federal accubonds and the rifle didn't like them as well. Didn't really like the idea of the coated bullet, but damn they shoot good.

ETA: my brother and one friend both could not get their 300 wsm to shoot the silver tip and they both shoot accubond now.

THe Nikon Monarch is the most bang for your buck. Dad and Brother both use one and they have performed well. Not the level of the Conquest or Vari X III, but cheaper and damn close to them in performance.

Think my dad's in a 3-9X50. Bro's is 4-16. I would def go with this 4-16. That's all I use and have never been in a situation that I regretted it. 25-300yds is all good.

Suppressing all my "gun snob" senses here and speaking with a rare moment of clarity. The Monarch is a fine scope and you will be happy with it. DO NOT buy a lesser Nikon. They are all shite.

The Monarch is one of those rare optic bargains IMHO. I think you will be very happy with it.

ETA: Would appreciate hearing if anyone has had a different experience.

Meopta-Meostar 3x12x56
best scope I've ever had. It gathers more more light than any other scope(30mm tube)

Made by Swarovski. Haven't heard anything about the scopes, but supposedly the same Glass as their high end scopes.

Yep I wasn't sure about them either so I borrowed one from a friend. I was so impressed with it that I sold my Leopold VXIII

Is it worth the extra $100 to get the 4-12X50 instead of the
3-9X42
I know its obviously better with light and everything, but i guess if you're doing it, do it right.

thats what I figured. If you're spending the money, $100 more is worth the performance.
