The whole XD line is great. I carry my XDs 9mm. I've put thousands of rounds through it and it eats up everything I put in the mag. I won't start the caliber debate.
There are so many quality manufacturers I really believe it comes down to grip/comfort when making decisions about a daily carry gun. If the .45 helps you sleep at night and it feels good in your hand, the XDs is a great choice.
