Ive tried rat traps, poison, urine, and small game traps. Nothing worked. They are smart. Came home one day and saw one climbing up the side of the house like it was Spider-Man. So I went Rambo on them. Drove to Dicks and bought a Gamco pellet gun and started killing any squirrel that was on my roof or patio. They were getting in through the roof corners where the shingles meet the gutter. I sealed the holes with Spray Foam and Brillo pads pulled apart and stuffed in the spray foam. I’ve had no issues since but I’ve probably killed 50 squirrels over the past few years. It’s war.
