Did they check to see if maybe you needed a front end alignment?

Alignment will never cause a shake, what’s the last 4 of the DOT’s? They could be old stock, or just a bad set of tires, that’s about it, also find a shop with a road force balance machine. The tire may just need to be turned on the rim, could be a couple different issues, they should be able to see the hop in it.

Whats the fix for moisture in the tire? Simple decompress and refill with dryer air?

Never had that problem, but I suspect you hafta break it down and pour it out. Alcohol in tractor tires has to be suctioned out and dumped out if you put a tube in the tire and refill with alcohol. Make them drain the compressor tank and clear the air lines before inflating your tires? Of course they're not going to do any of this, though.

Are they forced balanced or just dynamic balanced?
Since that body style has been out we have had a few issues with the tires actually slipping on the bead surface of the wheel.
Get them forced balanced and take a marking pen and mark the wheel and tire with a small line, and if the vibration happens again check your alignment marks you made.

what are the best shops for balance/alignment work in Lake Charles and Lafayette areas?

Firestone in LC on Ryan St has a road force balance machine. It actually applies force to the tire and flexs the sidewall to check for deformation.

Fixed my f250 shake on a set of toyo open countries. They had to redo 3 of the 4 tires. The install shop that put them on before I bought the truck used did a shite job on balancing.

Takes a while. It's best to call and setup and appt time for that machine.

re: OT Mechanics - new tire balance problems
I am just going to pass this along in an effort to help you. I drive about 50,000 miles a year and go through tires on a regular basis. Continental tires are on my vehicle from the factory. They were the worst tires I have ever purchased and I am being sincere. Rough riding, wobbled and were quickly worn out (thank goodness). When I got a new set (different brand) my truck ride improved greatly. I would head to Walmart and buy a chainsaw and cut them into small pieces while laughing uncontrollably were I you. They are pathetic tires. Switch brands and see if that dymake an immediate difference. Get rid of them asap. Good luck!

Bingo it's the tires, I had an old set of tires on my avalanche and it drove like shite around 70mph. Thought it was the front end, Took it to an honest mech and he suggested new tires. It felt like a new vehicle afterwards,
