I've got the Surefire E2D Defender and it will scrape the skin off your knuckles if you don't watch the edges of the bezels. I haven't had to test it on anything tougher, but I guarantee if you hit someone with it they'd know.

I don't think the Fury was specifically built for the AR. It's actually not even designated as a weapons light by Surefire. I think Pat Rogers wanted a more powerful light than what Surefire was offering in their designated weapons lights, so they offered his version. I've called them and they said they will warranty the use of said light as an AR light, even though they do not designate it as such.

And as far as not using it indoors, I just said it's really powerful, so it can blind you in tight quarters. It's definitely awesome that I can point it at the ceiling in a dark room and completely illuminate the room. And it's really awesome outdoors.

You could probably crack someone's skull with those bezels.

Doesn't it completely wreck your pants?

500 lumens seems excessive

I wear Tru-Spec 24/7 pants that have a knife/light pocket on the outside. Works perfectly.

Surefire claims you can break a house window or even a car window with the bezels. I can see the house, but the car window is somewhat of a maybe.

I agree. Anything more than 250 is beyond being able to be used indoors.

I can tell you that with 200 lumens you can see very clear at 100 meters during the dead of night with no moon. Can probably see further, but that's the furthest I've tested mine. 500 lumens would be great for spotlighting hogs or something.

Got a rec on a light then? The 500 would be awesome but I don't want to ruin my vision.

Have you fellas had the opportunity to handle an Elzetta yet? Man, they really seem bombproof. I've seen all the videos...dropping from helicopter, shooting it, assembling it underwater, etc...But I only just recently got to see one up close, and I'm very impressed.

For a weapon light the only one I've used myself is the Pentagon light I've got on mine, which is a direct knock off of a Surefire(which is why they're not in business anymore).

I do recommend getting one that you can get a remote switch for. It's a lot easier to use the remote than push or twist button on the back of the light.

I saw the results of the guy dropping the Elzetta from a helo from 300 feet. Holy shite. Chipped the concrete and it still worked like a champ. Haven't got my hands on one though.

Any of the surefires come with a remote switch?

Where do you keep/put the remote?

Don't know about depth, but every component, including the LED module is waterproof.

I just meant temporarily blinding...but I'm sure you can permanently damage your vision with these lights if you try.

As far as recommendation...there are lots of good lights...depends on how much you want to spend.

pretty sure the remote switches work with a lot of the Surefires, including the Fury.

Check this page for the Surefire rifle lights.

On mine I have a Grippod fore grip where I put the remote switch.

Yes, Surefire has several models with remote switches. You're going to spend some money though.

Scout Series

X Series

Millenium Series

These are a few options. You can also build your Elzetta like you want and include a 5 inch or 12 inch remote switch.

Isn't the remote for people clearing rooms and all? Seems like overkill... where do you attach the remote on the AR?
