Who are y'all using to do the contracting on the pond? Going through the NRCS office is the way to go for sure. We were gonna rework an acre size pond, but our contractor said we would be better off going with a new pond about 2 1/2ac. Up here today for the controlled burn.

The one we are reworking is a stock pond that was dug pre 1960. Through years of cattle going in and out, spillway erosion, and levee failure the water level is about 2 feet lower and it is full of silt. it collects about 14 acres of watershed and when we looked at it yesterday trying to get an idea on how far we could expand it and still use a lot of the natural land, it put the water level being exactly where it was 10 years ago.
Im using a guy out of St.Francisville to do the work. Walden Const. I already got a rough bid but have to get him out there again tomorrow now that I have a little more of an idea on whats going on. My mother in law signed up for this without me knowing and just in the last two weeks told me it was now my project and had to be done by 2017

Rent an excavator with thumb in the size of roughly 160+hp. A weeks rental would be in the ball park of $3800 plus fuel. Dig every up every tree and stack. Pileup the root balls and tops for a good bonfire once dried. Or use some for pond structure
Could also line up a logger to come pick up the already prepared trunks and bring to mill. Use the excavator to load his truck. Discuss receiving some money from the deal being the logger had to move nothing but his truck.
