New Sig owners/Sig experts - decocker on a new pistol question...

I just took delivery on a Sig P226. I ordered a "plain" and I am not versed well enough on what constitutes an "E2" model, or even the "E2" grip if applicable. This is my 6th classic Sig over the past 25 years or so.

Okay - the question - with all of my classic Sigs, and even the Sp2022, the decocker drops the hammer well past the halfway mark, almost to the full DA position - at the bottom of the decocking motion, and the release has always felt akin to a trigger reset, with only minimal movement of the hammer after that.

The new pistol, at the bottom of the decocking motion, the hammer clicks and moves maybe 1/16 of the way back to decocked - and the release of the decocker releases the hammer all the rest of the way to the DA hammer position.

Is this a redesign? Anyone else experienced this? Is this worth a call to Sig customer service?

Thanks.

That's what mine does too. It's normal

Do you see any grip screws? If not, you have an E2. The kit should have come with grip tool like this:

No grip screws and it did come with the tool. I do like the grip profile - seems slimmer than my older P229.

Is it possible this change in the standard decocking was done to accommodate some issues with the E2 grip? I could find nothing on my specific issue - it was just different enough from my past experience to warrant checking it out before I loaded it.

(So, no, I haven't shot it yet - probably going to be next month. I had way more 9mm ammo than I thought - )

I'm beginning to think I should have manned up and got the Mk25.

Oh, well, I'll put rounds through this one and see how it goes.

I'll give you a crisp new $100 bill and take it off your hands for you.

Nope. Mrs. Midnight loves the SP2022. There is a good chance she'll love this new P226. I can always get a Mk25 later (AFTER I get combat shotguns, which I already pinky swore I would not buy any more pistols before I get combat shotguns.)

The decocker on my new P226 works exactly the way you described. I also have a Sig Mosquito and its decocker is totally different.

I'm just used to the down motion bringing the hammer to the decocked position - again, as it has worked in 5 other classics and a SigPro model. I'll get used to it, I suppose.

Mine are the first pistols I've owned that were fitted with decockers. I wish they both operated the same way. Not a big deal really - I bought them several months ago and haven't fired either one.

Yeah don't worry about it. It's not a big deal imo
