Can't comment on the Ultrex but I wouldn't change manufacturers because of the mounting holes. If you stay with MG they holes should be the same but will definitely change if you go with MK.

Actually not. I went with the Ultrex and didn’t have to drill, it has holes to fit both footprints. Pleased with it once I got used to the foot pedal and so far it’s hasn’t missed a lick

Seriously? Good to know bc I know some of the models from 1 brand to another won't fit in the same holes.

People make drilling holes into a fiberglass boat seem like it’s some painful thing but it’s pretty damn simple. I’ve drilled holes up to 1” diameter in my gel coat and never had a single issue with cracking. It’s very simple.

True but who wants 74 unused holes in their boats

If we are talking about small holes hidden underneath a trolling motor mount, I don’t see the big deal.

The Minn Kota had extra Motorguide patterned holes in the mount, the other way around I can’t say

What kind of boat? I ran Lowrance on my last bass boat and ultrex before that. The Lowrance is a little better motor but if you have an issue, you have to deal with Lowrance which is no fun

I have the self deploying ultera on my bay boat and would not have anything else

Triton bassboat that sees a little speck action in winter when they’re on the inside
