Shot a Nilgai recently, anyone have Houston area recs for a taxidermist that won't cost me my left nut. I've seen prices from 600-2k.

I have hunted all my life, yet never had a shoulder mount done, let alone for something like this, so not sure what reasonable is.

Any help is appreciated. Bonus points for good Nilgai recipes/tips.

If it were my animal I’d take it to B&B on the northwest side. Mike has done a few mounts for me and lots of African game for buddies. He does top notch work for a fair price. He’s not the least expensive and not the fastest but I’d certainly trust him with a trophy for my wall.

B&B did a shoulder mount on a buck I shot in '21 and did a very nice job. Great people but a little pricey and took 10 months to complete. I would use them again.

I checked out D and S taxidermy at the recommendation of a friend. Talked to Doug and had him do a couple of European mounts this past season. They did a great job and the work that he does on shoulder mounts is beautiful. Much cheaper! I think I'll use him on the next shoulder I do.
