Picked up a hunting lease that has a ton of river front. I guess my question is what the hells on there? Bass fish, set lines for cats? Ice never fished such clean water and sandy bottom in La before. I really don't know where to stsrt

Slow roll this out from creeks that join the river, water moving is a plus.

beetle spins, crawfish lures, small Rat-L-Traps. go ultralight for fun.

Its mostly spotted bass up there. I'm from Oakdale and grew up fishing the Calcesieu out of a canoe. Watermelon Candy Baby brush hogs, bandit 100 and 200s in solid black, khaki, and orange craw were always solid. Black especially in the spring. White or black humdinger spinnerbaits with Indiana/Colorado gold blades.

Thanks!!! I've got most of that in my bag so I think I'm good. Guru, I'll def get some info. Got some family that's been there for a few yrs but it's my first. Surely isn't a shortage of deer I can guarantee you. It's a very nice place and 80% of the members only come up 2-3 times a year

as mentioned before, it is mostly spotted bass with some LMB. So think small lures, like Bandit 100-200, Deep Baby N, small Hummdinger spinnerbaits. Works very well fishing out of a canoe, heading upstream, so that you have better control of your boat. Very scenic and peaceful, all in all very enjoyable.
