I have lived almost 21,900 days. In that time about 30 have been negatively impacted by weather or wars or zombies or whatever to the point of discomfort. That is .13% of the time. I don't give it a whole lot of thought. When there is some warning, say an ice storm (more typical for us than hurricanes like y'all on the coast) I take minor precautions. Get a couple of cases of bottled water, some cash, 30 gallons of gas, make sure I know where our camping lights are. I don't need anything else I have to maintain or keep track of on the off chance that I am going to have to live after the zombies take over.
I would not, however, live anywhere that hurricanes would cause me to have to evacuate and rebuild every 7 years or so. I don't know how y'all do it. I love the coast but damn a bunch of rebuilding.
