By all accounts a Garvey style hull made of foam is wider, lighter and will float in less water than an aluminum boat of a similar size.
14 Foot Garvey
This one is plywood and glass and specs say it weighs 140 pounds. Of course that depends on the builder. By comparison the tracker 1436 weighs 162 pounds and is only 36 inches wide...the Garvey is 48. There used to be some build threads where people were doing them in foam.
