I don’t mind doing most of my yard work. I enjoy mowing, weedeat, edging, garden work, but I’d rather be horse whipped than cut hedges. Do any of y’all pay for maintenance of hedges and mulch/pine straw? If so, what kind of price are you paying and how often.

I would like to know this as well. I just flat-out skipped cutting hedges all last year and they look like a damn jungle right now.

My yard is immaculate, but like you, the hedges are jungle like.

I have nice a nice gas pruner, but do not enjoy the trimming.

It's funny how different people find different things a PITA. I love doing hedges. It's like I'm creating art. I have those loppers and hedge trimmers buzzin' and sticks and leaves flyin'. I HATE mowing, and hate pulling weeds even more. I hire that crap out.

yeah my parents love it. I bought a nice gas hedge trimmer, but I’d rather cut roads in August with it than make my hedges look like an 8 year old cut them.

I cut my thumb with electric clippers using my one handed technique.

Then upgraded to the gas powered Echo. That sucker will cut through 1 inch branches. I learned my lesson the first time and still have all my digits.

Get yourself a battery powered hedger and you'll want to do that one first.

If you really want to own it, get the hedger with an extension so you don't have to reach high or bend down low.

We are in NELA and so some work on the side. We bid depending on how much time to trim and how much has to be hauled away. To make it easy for materials we double the cost of straw or mulch but that includes picking it up and putting it out (no extra labor charge) most jobs we do are the homeowners have let it get out of hand and need it back so it is expensive. Yards we maintain are around $400 2x per year but that is turn key done.

If you are doing mulch and don’t have any be prepared for a higher first time cost mulch doesn’t go very far on initial application, pine straw goes a lot further.
