buying a car in texas from and individual title question

buying a car from an individual in texas and I am not titling it in texas or Louisiana do I only have to have the owner sign the title to me does it have to be notarized when they sign it? or can he sign it toss in the glove box ship it to me in tennessee? I had a nightmare buying my mother in law a car in TN and getting tags for it in La

In louisiana getting a bill of sale and the owner to sign the back of the title is all you need. I bought one from texas before
