Broadcasting Pelletized Lime

I’m looking at broadcasting pelletized lime on my plots in near future and was always told you have to till the lime in. Is this true? I am wanting to just broadcast over existing vegation and let nature (rain) takes its course.
No I didn’t soil test recently but plots are on pine timber land so soil is acidic.
What’s y’all thoughts? Thanks

It’s fine to broadcast without tilling in, the problem is you need about two pallets per acre to make a difference in piney woods soil pH so it’s typically cost prohibitive compared to hauling in ag lime.

I’ve limed and tilled in the past on these plots just looking to cut time this year by broadcasting 200#’s per 1/4 acre plot.

Ag lime will have effect for 3-4 years. Ag lime 1 year. If you can’t get a lime truck to your plots, many coops have ag lime cart spreaders. Ag lime is much more cost effective and way less effort.

Ag trucks or buggy’s won’t be able to get down my roads to plots.
