It certainly seems worse than normal but it could be recency bias...I have fished offshore since the early 70s and it wasn't uncommon then and it isn't now but it seems more common. It could also be that there are a helluva lot more boats on the water fishing offshore than there used to be and sharks and barracudas have learned they are easy picking....back in the day when 8-10 boats left the pass every day and spread out over 100 miles it was harder to find a boat to hide under...now that hundreds leave the pass every day its easier. Whatever it is it does seem to be more common. I have NO doubt that dolphin are more of a nuisance and I think that is directly related to there being more boats on the water and idiots feeding the thieving grinning bastards...in most of inshore Florida now if you catch more than 2 fish a dolphin is going to show up and you are going to either lose fish or move to another location...this used to be so rare that it was sort of neat to see....it happens 2-4 times a trip now in my experience....

Yes it’s terrible. Every time I fish we get snarked all damn day long. We need to start killing them when we feel them up.
