That proposal, like the offer for skimmers, was rebuffed but later accepted by the government. BP has begun paying about $360 million to cover the costs. Once again, though, the Jones Act may be getting in the way.

This is the problem. Obama says they are in charge but are part of the problem not the solution. If the general public only knew half of the crap that is going on there would be major outrage.

I am not being a BP apologist, they have their own faults and have enough bureaucracy without the help of the government trying to help.

What did you bold those statements for? It may be been accepted, but it was accepted way too late.

I would take the assistance of the Dutch government anyday, than continue to deal with this lack of urgency from BP and the US government both of which have plagued this situation from the get go. Problem is neither BP or the Feds know what to do. If the Dutch at least know what to do, we still have accepted their offer as soon as it was extended!

Its a shame our country is too proud.

I was wondering why we haven't gone to Petrobras for more deepwater expertise/help.

I always thought Petrobras was the best at deep water drilling?

I bolded the statements because our government is crewing up as much as BP. I have been saying it for weeks and because I say that some label me as a BP apologist.

Petrobras is the last people that should be asked for help.
