The evolution of sentience does not end with biological life. It is logical to see biological beings’ purpose as the creators of mechanical sentient life. Because biological sentients are permanently rooted to their places of origin, it is incumbent upon them to create their successors, artificial life than can move unencumbered through space to other planets, star systems and galaxies.
