If Jericho was competing for titles instead of unmasking every single luchadore, Chris Benoit and Sting used correctly, and Ric Flair allowed to even wrestle..maybe that wouldn't have happened..at least not as quick.

Their was alot of 2nd tier guys that needed bigger pushes in wcw.
Mcmahon bought wcw at a very cheap price.

WCW was also hamstrung by "old" talent. hogan, hart, sting, flair, savage, Nash, etc. All past their prime. All 80s and 90s stars refusing to let go of the spotlight and make way for new faces.
People got tired of the same old same old. They couldn't keep up with the new faces and mic skills in WWF

Yeah, WCW pushed the wrong people
They had some new stable called the New Blood (Shawn Staziack, Chuck Palumbo, Sean O'hair and Mark Jindrack)..and Vince Russo was their "leader"..or Biscoff. Had some younger guys that he was pushing, but not the right guys.
Just too damn late.. Jericho, Perry Saturn, Benoit, Guerrero..they all had already left for the WWF. Imagine if they had those guys in 2000 and 2001 along with the New Blood guys
Not to mention Booker T was given the mega push, Goldberg was still hot, and String and Flair could have brought them even higher

Sting wasn't past his prime in 2001. If the WCW wasn't so pathetic in 2001, he would have been the biggest name in wrestling.
The buildup between Sting and Hollywood Hogan for Starcade '97 was amazing

WCW went broke from bad contracts, such as guaranteed million dollar contracts for people like Nash, Goldberg, Hogan, etc to wrestle once per month at ppvs and never do house shows. Hell, even Miss Elizabeth had a guaranteed contract and all she did was walk to the ring, clap a couple of times, and walk to the back for a million bucks per year.
WCW lost viewers because Vince Russo wouldn't know what a good booked match looked like even if it was hanging on a 10' pole. He also pitched guys like Mike Awesome, Shane Douglas, Buff Bagwell, Vampiro, and "The Wall" to be the next big things while Vince was trotting out guys that WCW released as mid carders and turning them into stars.

Thought this was a "Women Crush Wednesday" thread with pictures of women that made it to Sunday. Disappointed

Yep..you're right. Especially the last part.

I remember switching back and forth between Raw and Nitro. The Nitro matches lasted forever. The mic segments were short. The setup to the feuds were weak.
Meanwhile over on USA, the Raw matches were short, the mic was electric.
I cared more about the setup than the matches. Most people did as well apparently

You can also add timewarner/aol merger.
They wanted nothing to do with wrestling despite it being the highest rated show on the network.

Apparently not
They cared more about the 20 minute in-ring promo that the nWo had to cut than what Mankind was doing and what DX was getting themselves into
WCW from '96-'98 was really really good. The Luchadore matches were amazing quality, IMO. Mid Carders carried the show..and the star power capped it off.

I began watching wrestling in late 98. Watched till about early 2002.
Haven't watched since.
WWE started having the same feuds over and over again. It got really boring.
Only glanced at it since.
It looks terrible now.

Well you started a few years too late
FWIW, I don't remember it all that vividly.. I was maybe 6 and 7 when I was watching (I'm 24 now).
Justin.TV did have a channel that showed Monday Night Nitro, and I used to watch that at work during my night shift job a few years back. I really learned to appreciate how good the writing was.

No.
Miss-management, no discipline, huge salaries, huge roster, weak and abandoned storylines, bad presentation, bitterness, politics, jealousy, horrible booking, no leadership.
Honestly, it jumped the shark. Then the wwf was on a roll with Stone Cold, The Rock, McMahon, Michaels, Undertaker, Mankind, DX, and even the midcards were over. McMahon was great.

Google Jim Cornette and Vince Russo. Cornette give absolutely zero fricks about Russo, and isn't afraid to say so. Not to mention his Youtube shoots are freaking HILARIOUS. The drive through incident is hilarious.
Funny, I grew up hating Cornette, but man, he's awesome.

Vince Russo was the head writer for the attitude era. His story lines are what put WWF over

Read Cornette's Wrestle Zone's interviews with Cornette. He'd disagree with you, saying Russo didn't know shite, and couldn't promote Wrestling. But maybe he promoted the crap that some people liked.
