I’m happy to help. It’s kind of hard to comprehend it now, but back then tank destroyers were almost their own separate combat arms like infantry, artillery, cavalry, and armor. During the war there were proponents who wanted as much. But, by the end of the war the army realized the flaw in having a separate tank destroyer force and the concept was abandoned.
