Why cant EBR create special taxing districts for the crime ridden parts of town?

A special tax is assessed in areas that require more cops. Taxes go up, landlords have to pay the tax, they in turn attempt to pass the tax along to the residents (increasing rents), tenants can't justify the increased rents, they move, slum lords forced to upgrade their properties or sell to investors that will build something decent.

The recent article regarding Tigerland (and River Bend wanting to vote for a tax on themselves so they can hire off duty cops) got me to thinking....

Why should the good neighborhoods pay more to protect themselves - instead, why shouldn't the landlords that foster the thugs have pay more?

That would be all sorts of racist and discriminatory.

I would vote for it.

It's all subsidized housing for cockroaches for the most part anyways, its coming out of your paycheck whichever way you slice it.
