Wife and kids just got in today....looking for suggestions for something good and local. No chains. GO.

There was a few places across from the William and Mary bookstore last time I was there. Want to say one of them had some live music.

I'm a huge fan of a small neighborhood pizza joint there. I believe it's called Papa Johns.

nothing grosser than a restaurant that has multiple locations. I'd rather eat a homeless mans a-hole

In Colonial Williamsburg, Shields Tavern can't be beat. And their hot buttered rum (1700s recipe) is the best drink I have ever had, bar none.
Outside of it, Fat Canaries is awesome. There are some at the end of the Main Street among the shops - if you eat there, stay away from Stephanos and Seasons...you have been warned. There is a peanut store that is just plane awesome and worth the look.
Williamsburg is in the top two for us - we go every Veterans Day.
