You mean the 50,000 residents that live in 1/3 of the state (in size) lean rural/conservative? Ya don’t say.
It’s shocking to me that people think counties with 10000 people don’t lean blue in a blue state.
Cook, Harney, and Malheur counties make up like 1/4 of the size of Oregon. It’s the entire southeast quadrant of the state, but the entire population of the 3 counties is less than 50k residents. Sure, you can say outside the city of Portland it’s all red, but the counties that are really large have very few people in it, and those very few people are traditional white rancher types who lean conservative. Same with Montana.
