Today in Heritage History, March 7, 1908, Cincinnati Mayor Mark Breith stands before City Council and announces that, “woman are just not physically suited to operate automobiles”. Cincinnati City Council members just assumed that Mayor Breith was referring to the times they had all been out drinking together after hours. While driving from bar-to-bar, Mayor Breith’s signature drunk prank was to pull-out the two front pockets of his trousers and attempt to drive with his “trunk” while yelling in a drunken stupor to all his passengers, “Look…I’m driving like a circus elephant!”.
