I forget some deets, but I think at Sutters Mill, they discovered gold. They tried to hide it but word got out and it led to the great Gold Rush. It's why the SF team in the NFL is called the 49ers.

I believe the subject matter is SF bread making its way to Austin, a thing, not the origins of the gold rush.

not really. Based on the context of the original reply I assumed you meant this bread existed in Austin since the gold rush.
