I agree with everything you said.

Luckily, Obama is on the way out (not that his likely replacements will be much better).

I intend no disrespect. All I'm saying is that if you were talking to the Georgians, and you were left with the impression that an armed Russian expedition didn't come through Roki into undisputed Georgian territory before Georgian forces fired on those forces, then you believe the Russian account of what happened, not the Georgian account.

Also, if you believe the Georgians "picked" a fight with the Russians, you believe the Russian account, not the Georgian account.

My view is more consistent with this article from the Hoover Institution on War, Revolution, and Peace.

It Never Rains In Tiger Stadium.

What does that have to do with Castro though? There's plenty of Hemingway pictures without him.

For some reason the pic with Castro was my favorite. Maybe I am a communist.

Full article.

Well look on the bright side... Short of disbanding the military all together and inviting the Russians and/or Chinese to occupy us, they cannot be worse than Obama.

But all kidding aside, this current crisis lays squarely at the feet of Obama. His perceived weakness on the world stage had directly led to Putin's boldness in the Crimea. If war does come (and I pray it doesn't) it will be because Obama has painted us into a corner here.

I mean no disrespect to you either. We are both very close to our opinions / assertions about this. I saw it (and lived it) through my sources, and you through yours. Thank God for message boards that allow us this back and forth. And sincere appreciation to posters like you who maintain a civil (if not slightly heightened) tone during a disagreement. Far too many posters snap off a "Your an idiot" [sic] retort and log off.

For the record, I believe the Russians deserve every bad thing that happens to them. They bring trouble upon themselves and refuse to be even token responsible world citizens. They're miserable, and want everyone around them to be as well.

Putin is just shaking his dick to get Russia's name out there militarily. He's not an insane German who is killing millions upon millions of innocent people. Putin is not an idiot. The last thing he wants is a war with the west.

This comment rather makes you look more like the one who has "never set foot in a college classroom." Who says that Hitler was "insane?" You are a gullible fool and not well educated on the topic yourself if you belief this nonsense. Also, what millions upon millions of people had Hitler killed before or during the Sudetenland crisis? And what planet do you live on that it is any kind of accepted historical premise that Hitler wanted war with the West? Precisely the opposite of all your supposed "educated" premises is actually the case.

Nonetheless, you are correct in concluding that the comparisons between this incident and the Sudetenland issue are dubious and I'd add mostly used to elicit a propaganda value. Unfortunately it seems to be an effective means in ratcheting up fears and exaggerations of danger.
