Lufkin, Shreveport, and Jackson are more similar than New Orleans, Lafayette, and jackson.
Hence why east Texas is the Deep South and southern LA isn’t.

The Deep South was Episcopalian long before it was Baptist so why couldn’t it one day become Catholic?
It’s not deep south because of the French, not because of the Catholics.
