How far are we away from the ability to self-govern?

With the advent of total connectivity - where even the most minuscule of decisions like an advertisement a company prints or a customer that gets turned away at a local bakery becomes headlines in mainstream and social media - it seems like the traditional role of governments can be replaced by a connected populace that is willing to enforce consequence through mob rule. Company spewing trash into a river? Upload the video to youtube and watch them tank. Someone calling you a fig at work? Facebook live that shite and say goodbye to that dude's career. We're only a few decades away from a camera on every corner and cameras in every home. Eventually, everything will be streamed. Everything will be inescapable from the public eye.

Now, I'm not saying we need to get rid of the police for people who are intent on harm or theft with no care for the consequences. I'm just saying that we could probably do away with about half of government rules and regs and agencies because the mob can control those domains, and I don't think we're too far off from offloading it completely.

Also, frick taxes.

Never. Government is too lucrative to the fricks in control.

Look at your phone, baw - that's TWO cameras and a microphone, right there. Multiply by every person you see.

"Few decades" - no - it hasn't been that long, but we've had this several years, at least, already.

I'd argue mob rule is as terrifying as fascism and/or communism IMO.

In the book Fahrenheit 451 it's not the Gov't who burns the books, it's the people. We're heading down that road currently.

At least in our current system we have a reasonable justice system. The court of public opinion is much more irrational and cruel.
