Hope work isn't too crazy Lith!

This year I'm actually off for Thanksgiving. I work Christmas eve and NYE nights this year.

Of course....if I get that infection control job I'm hoping I can give my notice and start the new job before the remaining holidays and be off those as well

My second interview was Tuesday...the pediatric infectious disease doctor(that I already have met many times on my unit) was one of the people interviewing me. Hoping that helps.

Thanks Aspy, me too. I sooooooo need a change.

If I get it, I'm not looking forward to letting my current manager know and giving her my notice. Me leaving will make them REALLY short on nights. She is gonna freak out and give me the guilt trip of guilt trips(she is very passive aggressive like that).

I got a pretty bad guilt trip when I turned in my notice too. It was basically 2 weeks of hell.

Morning Aspy, Nurse

Nurse the guilt trip is translation for I have to do more work so don't let it bother you. I'm looking for a more normal lifestyle in a new location that is closer to my family once Lithette #3 finishes at LSU in May

Luckily with me working nights I would only see my manager as I'm leaving work in the mornings.

My coworkers would totally understand me leaving and would be jealous that I'm GTFO. They would be very supportive towards me, they know how stressed I've been lately with everything. Assuming I even get the job....if the new department would rather me wait until after the holidays to start I would be ok with that as well cause I wouldn't feel so bad about leaving my current unit really understaffed on the holidays I was supposed to work(which would make others end up working more holidays). But...if the new dept wants me to start right away...then so be it.

Where at? And I fully understand that. I used to be the biggest anti 9 to 5 job there was. Loved working my 3 12s and working nights. Maybe I would still feel that way if things were better on my unit. But the thought of only working 8 hours at a time and no more struggling to sleep during the day just sounds like something I really need right now.

Happy Thanksgiving, Lith. Sorry you have to work -- I am sure it will get busy once everyone starts getting liquored up and having some "family disagreements". Good luck.

Oh Lord. I forgot about that.

My daughter recently switched to days from nights in cardiac care unit. She did that for 3 years and wanted a change. Now she's trying to get into the OR.
Let's face it, being a nurse is going to suck no matter where you are or what time it is.

Lith, it is a bit out of houston, but might I suggest lake livingston to the northeast or eagle lake to the southwest

Both in relation to houston

Yeah I read different nursing blogs, etc online and the changes I see on my unit/hospital are ones many nurses are reporting nationwide. So I'm not alone in my misery I guess

I still want to tell all the bright-eyed nursing students we see on our floor to run while they still can and NOT go into nursing
