Do you accrue paid vacation time where you work? That is, do you get paid vacation? If so, it must be paid out to you when you leave your employer in Louisiana.
Yep 2 weeks/year
Just wondering how much that would be worth since commissions vary.

Just gave notice and I can already feel a difference.
They resent you because you are getting out alive.

They should cut the weeks crap out anyway, an employer doesn't give anyone two weeks when they lay you off.
Few years ago the company I worked for got bought out. New owners made bunch of changes right away, including changing from base + commission that we had to a straight salary that ended up being about a 20% pay cut for me on average. Worked there for a little while until I found something better and told new company I could start the following week. Walked into work on Tuesday morning, told the boss I was leaving for another job and would finish out the rest of the week. Boss tells me that "we normally expect 2 weeks notice". My response, "you didn't give me 2 weeks notice when you took over and cut my pay". Needless to say, I was told to leave and ended up with a few extra days off before starting my new job.

Update: Another attorney came into my office yesterday and told me that he is leaving the firm on the same day as me.
Needless to say, the partners are a little grouchy right now.
