Can anyone in insurance or demolition explain why an insurer would need secrecy in this?

I am referring to whichever insurer the Mayor is talking about when she says one backed out due to a councilmember's comments.
Is the Mayor simply making more stuff up to secretly increase the graft from these emergency contracts? Or is she deathly afraid of a scandall seing the light of day.
I also cannot comprehend how a public hearing can interfere with an investigation which is over three months old?
As to it being the council's business the city charter gives them explicit authority to hold hearings like this.
The mayors virulent rhetoric tells me that whatever shd is hiding may be enough to put her or her cronies in prison.

If it's not a municipal contract, then it's not public record. Article says the owner of the site is hiring demo company and has its own insurer. The city is involved of course, but it's not a city contract it doesn't sound like.

Because of the permits and other city involvement would it not become public record?

Good question, I really don't know.

I support the Council staying on top of this as along as they're not spending significant public dollars duplicating an already in-progress investigation. Convenient that the public records portal is currently unavailable due to a 2 months old cyber attack.

I hate to be conspiracy guy but this is New Orleans where anything goes. Let me put on a tinfoil hat and note there was never a ransom request with the cyberattack.

I thought the city took over control of the site after the collapse?

Maybe the real reason is The New Orleans Inspector General’s Office said Tuesday that the Hard Rock Hotel collapse is now part of its ongoing investigation into corruption within the city’s Department of Safety and Permits.

You can hold a public hearing and not get into the specifics of an investigation.

Destroya is afraid Helena is going to run for mayor and is trying to silence her.
Helena will take away all the cities’ Hispanic votes.
